This September, your library card comes with serious perks. It all started in 2022 when North Little Rock Public Library System launched Check Out North Little Rock, a campaign that offered local business discounts to library cardholders. In 2023 and 2024, we joined forces with Central Arkansas Library System to expand the program across the metro under the name Bookworm Bargains. Now in 2025, we're going even bigger with a total of 6 Library Systems involved!

Alongside the North Little Rock Public Library System, five other library systems across Central Arkansas are teaming up to bring you The Power of the Card. Central Arkansas Library System, Saline County Library, Pine Bluff Jefferson County Library System, Faulkner County Library, and Garland County Library are all participating. With a library card from any of these five systems, you can unlock exclusive deals and discounts at businesses throughout the region - Pulaski, Saline, Faulkner, Garland, and Jefferson Counties. September 6th, 9am to 1pm at Laman Library.
Celebrate Library Card Sign-up Month with Bring a Buddy Day! When your friend or family member signs up for a new or renewed library card, you’ll both receive an exclusive button. Open to all ages, this event makes it easy to share the perks of a library card—books, movies, games, and more! Just bring a current photo ID to sign up (guardians required for kids 12 & under). No skills needed and all giveaways are provided by the library. Let’s build connections and grow our library family together!
Show & Tell Scavenger Hunt
September 6th, 9am to 1pm at Laman Library.
The library is even more fun with friends! In this special scavenger hunt, help a friend answer questions about our library and win prizes!
These self-directed scavenger hunts will be most enjoyed by children pre-school aged and up, but can be enjoyed by anyone with guardian assistance! All materials are provided, and you can work at your own pace.
Power Up and Play! at Main Event
September 27th, 10am to 12pm at Main Event.
Library Card Sign-up Month is more fun on a bookmobile! Join us at Main Event in Little Rock for the Grand Finale Celebration—open to all ages! Everyone gets a free 1-hour arcade play card for classic + modern games and virtual fun. Step outside to visit the bookmobiles, grab a great read, or sign up for a library card to unlock books, movies, games, and more. No cost, no registration—just a day of literacy, play, and community hosted by Main Event + Power of the Card libraries!

September has been celebrated as Library Card Sign-Up Month, a nationwide initiative led by the American Library Association and libraries across the country, for more than three decades.
